Midland Senior Community – We love Midland. We are Midland.

We love Midland, and the feeling is mutual. In 2016 and 2018, Midland Daily News Readers voted King’s Daughters Home their favorite Assisted Living Facility AND their #1 Nursing Home.  Hooray and THANK YOU! Our senior community was founded in 1947 by King’s Daughters and Sons of Midland – including Dorothy Dow Arbury and Grace A. Dow. You’ll notice the name “Dow” everywhere in Midland, as Dow Chemical Company was founded in Midland in 1897, and our town is still home to the company’s world headquarters. Our city is consistently voted in the top small cities in America by Forbes and Livability.com. Many of our residents worked for Dow or Dow Corning. Others were life-long teachers in the Midland school […]

Midland Assisted Living – Where patios, flowers, and birds abound

“Designing the outside environment has been an overlooked opportunity to create meaningful places that are rich in association, encourage good health and exercise, and are responsive to the magic of the changing seasons.” ~ Elizabeth Brawley King’s Daughters Home is an architectural icon in Midland, Michigan. Mr. Dow knew that both the interior and EXTERIOR of our facility would help our residents to live safely and happily here. He designed a healthy, nourishing natural environment around and inside our facility for the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual benefits of all who visit, live, and work at King’s Daughters Home. Bringing the outdoors […]

Why Do Families Choose Midland King’s Daughters Home? We asked – they answered!

People often ask us, “Why would we choose King’s Daughters Home over all of the other assisted living options in the Midland area?” Of course, we could list off our reasons until the cows come home (which would be a very long time because those darn cows are notoriously languid creatures and make their way home at their own unhurried pace), but instead we asked our residents’ family members to provide some thoughts about their experience with King’s Daughters. Here’s what they said… As a life-long Midlander who volunteered actively at KDH all her life, our Mom knew well how KDH functioned and cared for its residents. My mom, who is soon to be 98, has been at King’s Daughters […]

Senior Living in Midland Michigan – Our building was designed by Alden B. Dow to make people feel BETTER

Our building does not look like other senior care facilities. People who pass by in cars or on the sidewalk aren’t sure what to make of us. “What is that place?” they say.  “A huge house? Homey looking office suites? A retreat center? Or something else?” We are indeed something else. The man who designed our building intended just that! “Quality in all its forms draws people to it.” – Alden B. Dow King’s Daughters Home was designed by the architect, Alden B. Down. His overarching mission in life was simple to describe (but not so easy to achieve) … He sought to create quality of life.
